I have a fun event coming up! lala books, a wonderful independent bookstore in Lowell, MA, is hosting me for a talk about the community science work that inspired Trouble at Turtle Pond; I’ll be talking about my research process and how I balanced science and storytelling. We will be joined by a real live Banding’s turtle hatchling!! Lowell has Blanding’s turtles, and the schools are partnering with Zoo New England’s HATCH program to headstart them. This is the same program that worked with my son’s school, and got me on the path to caring for turtles and eventually writing about them. This event is hosted in collaboration with Friends of the Pollard Memorial Library and Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust. Books will be available for sale at the event. If you can’t make it but would like a signed copy shipped to you, please contact the bookstore.

If you’re near Lowell, Massachusetts, or know someone who is, please join us or help spread the word!
